"La Maison de Grand-Mère" adjoins Le Tilleul's main farmhouse. Traditionally, most farmhouses in the area have a smaller cottage attached to them or located nearby. The older generation used to move into the cottage once their children had taken over the farm. Our "Maison de Grand-Mère" has been converted into a well-equipped, comfortably furnished holiday cottage with its own garden and parking area. It has two bedrooms and can accommodate up to four people (no pets, smokers or children under ten years old, please). From the private patio, a stable door opens directly into a lovely living room with a beamed ceiling. A huge old stone fireplace with a modern log burner ensures out-of-season warmth. There is also a dining table with dining chairs, French colour TV, a radio/CD/tape player and a selection of books and games. A complimentary basket of logs is provided for the log burner and every room has modern, thermostatically-controlled electric heaters. The fully-fitted, sunny kitchen has a dishwasher, an automatic washing machine, a microwave, a gas cooker and a fridge. A steep, winding staircase leads up to the upper floor - part of which used to be a hayloft. (The staircase is solidly built with an integral banister, but the steps are quite narrow - so if you are shaky on your pins, this may not be the house for you!) Upstairs are two large bedrooms and a modern shower room with a basin and a WC. Upstairs, one of the bedrooms has twin beds and the other has a double bed. All bed linen and towels are provided. The double bedroom has beautiful, exposed beams. Measuring 9m x 4m, the room has a delightful sitting area with a coffee table and chairs at one end. Please note that headroom is slightly limited in this bedroom (1.75m/5'9" in the doorway and under one beam). Outside, there is a south-facing patio with a barbecue and garden furniture. The patio is covered, so outdoor dining is possible all year round. "La Maison de Grand-Mère" is a charming, quirky cottage which is a perfect holiday home for four - or a romantic, cosy hideaway for two!
